CEREC Crowns
At Centre Dentaire Don Quichotte, we are very proud to provide our clients with CEREC technology to produce aesthetic, solid and durable dental crowns. With this technology, our dentists in Île-Perrot are able to design, make and install ceramic dental crowns, all in a single appointment.
Dental crowns are fixed prostheses covering a damaged tooth to increase its sturdiness. Crowns also enhance the appearance of damaged teeth. Ceramic is an ideal material when making dental crowns because it gives a finishing look that matches natural teeth. Furthermore, ceramic is solid and durable, making it possible to make crowns with a lifespan of many years. A dental crown is recommended in the following cases: to protect a cracked tooth, to strengthen a tooth in which a large filling was installed, to protect a tooth rendered non-vital by a root canal treatment, to improve the colour and appearance of a damaged tooth. In most cases, a dental crown will be used to cover a dental implant. This combination makes it possible to replace a missing natural tooth, while perfectly imitating its functions.
To benefit from the advantages of the CEREC technology and to get high-quality dental crowns, come visit us at our dental clinic in Île-Perrot.
CEREC, a technology appreciated by our clients
Only one appointment is necessary to make and install a crown done with CEREC technology. For the client, that means less time spent in the dentist’s chair! Furthermore, it is not necessary to install a temporary crown while waiting for the permanent crown to be built.
In short, this technology is very appreciated by our clients because the whole process is simpler, more comfortable and more efficient than with a crown fabricated in a laboratory.
Keep on reading to learn more about the necessary steps to make and install this type of dental crown:
Preparing the tooth
To create enough space to receive the future dental crown, the tooth is cut, which means that part of the enamel and dentine is removed. This step is performed under local anesthesia to prevent any pain.
Making imprints
With a state-of-the-art intraoral camera, imprints are taken to create a crown that will perfectly match the client’s teeth. The data is input into a computer program that creates a digital model of the crown.
Building the dental crown
Using the digital model, the crown is built in the milling chamber. The crown is then created from a ceramic block. It will be highly precise.
Installing & Adjustments
The crown is tested in the client’s mouth. To strengthen the crown and ensure optimal appearance, the crown is baked using a special oven. Final adjustments are made by your dentist, who will then cement it to the natural tooth.
